OPC Monitor
OPC MULTICHANNEL MONITOR
Operating configurations
- The system can operate in Standalone configuration or in integrated configuration with SWAM 5a Dual Channel Monitor
- Standalone Configuration: Periodical manual setting of the parameters for the estimation of the real mass concentration values
- Configuration integrated with the FAI SWAM 5a Dual Channel Monitor: Automatic correction with real mass values supplied by SWAM DC with self-learning procedure
Typical applications
- Characterization of the temporal trends of the particulate matter granulometric distribution as a support and integration to information about air quality
- Real-time estimation of the PM1, PM2.5, PM10, TPS mass concentration of the airborne particulate matter
Integrated system
The instrument for the PMx measurement (i.e. SWAM 5a instruments) gives the 24 h mass concentration average value with a high precision and reliability level, while the optical particle counter gives the suspended particulate matter daily trend, putting in evidence its trend in real time (number and granulometric size).
Such a datum, suitably integrated with the PMx information, can give fundamental indications to determine the correlation factors with the emission sources and their type.
This information make it possible to analyze special environmental conditions allowing, if needed, to identify eventual corrective activities.
This technological approach is aimed at using the OPC data for their correct functional value, that is as an integration of the PMx concentration data supplied by the Monitors.
Stand alone system
The accurate measurement of this parameter (optical dimension of the particle under examination), being not directly detectable, but based on the transformation of light pulses into electric signals, is connected with the quality of the optical and electronic detection system.
That’s why Multichannel OPC system (Integrated Monitoring System) is equipped with a special optical configuration called “wide angle”, based on the principle of the ellipse double focusing, allowing to achieve a very high accuracy level in particle detection.
The OPC system measures the number particles in air by the “Light scattering” physical principle. This principle is based on the measurement of the light “scattered” by a particle interacting with a light source and proportional to the equivalent diameter of the particle itself.
